Changes in morphology of white blood cells on peripheral smear in COVID-19 infection

Background: COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus, and has spread around the world in deadly pandemic. The first case of was reported from Wuhan, China December 2019. This also called as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) because its homology with SARS virus. most common hematological manifestation lymphopenia which due to depletion lymphocytes infection. Other manifestations are neutrophilia mild thrombocytopenia. Literature full quantitative parameters but researches on morphology white blood cells still ongoing. We at our institute done study 60 confirmed positive cases COVID-19, analyzed those peripheral smears terms cells.Methods: using smear staining methylene blue stain screened for various changes smear.Results: Changes were examined findings made tabular form.Conclusions: To conclude that all these virus infecting them or secondary pathogenesis COVID disease, needs be evaluated larger studies.
